Monitoring of Rainfall and Soil Moisture at the Rebaixader Catchment (Central Pyrenees)

چکیده

ABSTRACT The instrumental monitoring of torrential catchments is a fundamental research task that provides necessary information to improve our understanding the mechanisms debris flows. While most sites include meteorological sensors and analyze critical rainfall conditions, very few contain soil moisture measurements. In site, Rebaixader catchment, 11 flows 24 floods were detected during last 9 years. Herein, initiation these analyzed, focusing on conditions water dynamics. Comparing temporal distribution both episodes flows, Kernel density plots showed maximum values for rainfalls at beginning June, while peak July 20. Thus, antecedent rainfall, especially may influence triggering second step, new updated threshold was proposed included total duration mean intensity. analysis data more complicated, no clear trends observed in set. Therefore, additional have be recorded order quantitatively role definition thresholds. Some preliminary results show event affects increase moisture, slight trend visible comparing initial with amount trigger flow.

Soil Moisture Changes after Land Abandonment in the Central Spanish Pyrenees

The European mountainous areas, such as the Pyrenees, have suffered important land use changes since the beginning of the XX century. These changes affect the plant cover recovery process and then the runoff and sediment production. Soil moisture can be a key factor in the evolution of the abandoned land. It determines the vegetation recovery, runoff generation, sediment detachment and soil dev...

Predictions of rainfall-runoff response and soil moisture dynamics in a microscale catchment using the CREW model

Predictions of catchment hydrology have been performed generally using either physically based, distributed models or conceptual lumped or semi-distributed models. In recognition of the disadvantages of using either of these modeling approaches, namely, detailed data requirements in the case of distributed modeling, and lack of physical basis of conceptual/lumped model parameters, Reggiani et a...
